SUPPORTING CHARITY EVENT FOR FAIR FROME

Three members set up the band's table to share our christmas concert information , whilst busy selling Christmas raffle tickets. We also played a few carols with Singer Kirsten and Guitarist David. We had a few children who tried out the cornet and flugel - potential players for the future!

FROME CHEESE SHOW

We performed a 45 minute set on the music stage at the annual cheese show this year, we played to a packed audience and drew our summer raffle: proceeds to pay for the licence for the Wallace and Gromit "A grand Day Out" film for our Christmas show. Well done to the winners who were pleased with a family ticket to Longet and free tickets for our Christmas Concert

SUMMER BBQ SOCIAL

All members were invited to our summer BBQ social and official screening of Wallace & Gromit "A Grand Day Out" on the side of a van. We are very excited to announce that we are performing this at our Christmas Concert, it was also a good reason to get together to help celebrate Isaac's 21st Birthday. We didn't burn the suasages, and the camp fire kept us warm in the evening. A lovey end to our summer holidays.

BLESSING OF ST ALDHELM

The main band took part in the annual Well Dressing of Saint Aldhelm with St Johns Church.  The Well was dressed by members of local schools. After playing we then had our ice cream of cup of coffee at La Strada, a tradition which is very much appreciated.

FROME TOWN COMMUNITY LOTTERY GRANT

Chairman Kirstie and Treasurer Adrian were invited to attend the Frome Town Community Lottery Grant presentation, we wrote to them asking for some support to buy our new music stand banners as ours were looking very tired. We are very thankful with the donation that they have given us and can't wait to show our new banners off during gigs.

RIP ALAN YATES

Band member Alan Yates sadly lost his battle against cancer on 5th February. He moved to the area a few months ago and as soon as as he joined the band he came to our skittles social and got stuck right in. Alan played the tenor horn with intermediates and the main band. He was always smiling and persevered through his illness. A warm and caring gentleman who will be greatly missed by all in the band, we send our love to Julia and the Yates family.

In his memory we ended the evening playing Highland Cathedral as that was one of his favourite pieces, you can see this on our FaceBook

Another great night spent at Frome Rugby Club playing skittles, we split into two teams of Sharps (#) vs Flats (b).

Another close game where the Flats had won on games but Sharps had won on overall points, truly competitive and this time we split the 2nd row cornets up :)

Entertained by Jim our President by his skittling and missing a few, much to the amusement of the younger members!

A fantastic night, where we got to let our hair down, and to be part of our band community.
